About NC State University

North Carolina State University is located in Raleigh, North Carolina. We were founded as a public land-grant institution in 1887 and are still the largest four-year college in the state. We currently enroll 24,000 undergraduate students in a variety of academic departments, including a highly ranked engineering school that’s particularly well known for its nuclear and biological/agricultural engineering programs; an education program; and the Jenkins Graduate School of Management. NC State is the proud winner of the 2014 Senator Paul Simon Award for Comprehensive Internationalization, reflecting the university’s deep commitment to global engagement.

NC State University, along with Duke University and UNC Chapel Hill, is known as an anchor institution in the Research Triangle, an area between Durham, Chapel Hill and Raleigh. Considered one of the “smartest areas of the country,” the Triangle is a popular destination for public and private enterprises from around the globe.

The Global Training Initiative at NC State University develops customized short-term education and training opportunities for students and professionals from across the globe by harnessing the resources available at the university. We are part of NC State’s Office of Global Engagement.
